The winds of Change are blowing…
Even a casual look at recent and ongoing events indicates that we are living in interesting, interesting times….
A time for new voices that demand to be heard and for new stories to be told; a time for the baton to be passed to new hands, a time for new impact, new concepts, new ideas…a revolutionary time.
And as history teaches, no revolution ever occurred without a struggle of some kind.
But even after the dust settles and the fight is won, the problems that face us will not necessarily have gone away: among the key challenges that will always need to be dealt with effectively, is the need to manage resources: natural, public, human and, undoubtedly, financial.
The subject of money, in all its wide (and often frustrating 🙂) glory is a tale as old as time; one way or the other we’re all daily caught up with the need to make it, use it, spend it, keep it. We know the stories…we’ve been amazed at the successful ones, raised our eyebrows at the strange ones, and shaken our heads at the horror-movie ones.
As the generation that seeks to pave the way for effective and true leadership, not just for ourselves but also for those coming behind us, we have a responsibility to increase our understanding about finance – or at the very least, how it impacts us personally. It is an area that affects everyone…homemakers, entrepreneurs, public leaders…it affects us all.
No matter who we are or what we do, if we cannot develop a good understanding of money, we will be doing ourselves a disservice and leaving a very uncertain future for our children…and theirs.
It is time to change the narrative…embrace the wind.
