Cache 22. Should we decide not to train people any more because of fear of Japa? I’m with Joseph on this one. We need to ramp up the production lines. Churn out more experts than are leaving. Let us supply the world the way Cuba supplies the world with medical talent. We must keep producing experts because we cannot stop the Japa trend in the short term. While there are obvious negatives to Japa, it has its positives as well: increased remittance from Nigerians in diaspora, improved talent base/experience for potential brain drain reversal in future (Okonjo, Aganga type people), creating more local job openings for those that don’t Japa, increase in GNP etc. For now, let those that want to Japa go, there is no rationale for them to stay. But the imperative on government and organized private sector is to fast track the production of new talent to support Nigeria and the world.
