2021 was a tough year. A year filled with good, bad, and more. Like 3 years or more all in one. It had an intensity that required titanic ship loads of resilience, faith, and focus. Don’t let social media or optics fool you, as even stratospheric billionaires like Bill Gates, whose wealth grew significantly in 2021, reviewed the year as tough. So congratulations to us all who made it through.
For me, 2021 gave me a gift I will treasure forever. It demonstrated and hence ingrained in my full consciousness the difference between Fate and Destiny. Fate happens. Good and bad. It happens. It is not causal or dependent on you. Its life. You can’t wish or pray it away. You accept it, take any learning out of it, and move on. Your fate is not your destiny. Your destiny, your God-ordained purpose on this earth, is in your control as designed by your Creator. Destiny is a pact between you and your God. Attaining your destiny and fulfilling your purpose in life is dependent on your attitude, your spirituality, your understanding of self, your hunger and determination to succeed, and your mastery of your environment, including the people both in it now and in the future. This differentiation between fate and destiny is extremely important as digesting and over-deliberating on your fate can be evidenced by expectations not being met, things not working out as hoped or planned, noisy demands on you and your sanity (both mental and emotional) from life’s responsibilities, expectations from family, colleagues, and loved ones, can distract you from your destiny and your journey towards it. Things happen. Delay isn’t denial, and denial isn’t bad or fatal. Speaking for myself, almost all of my denials have turned into wins when I look back. God is faithful all the time. However, in order for Him to be faithful, you must have faith.Be careful of letting fate determine your faith. Once that happens, it affects your confidence, sows doubts in your mind and thoughts like whether you are over ambitious or wanting too much creep in. Those are silly thoughts. The universe offers unlimited gifts, so if you want it, go for it. Just be prepared to give your all for it as the universe demands reciprocity in sacrifices for our ambitions.
Thank you, 2021, for that lesson. 2022, welcome. I thank you for bringing all the fruits promised to me by my creator. I promise to respect your differences from prior years and take nothing for granted. You play a key part in my journey. I am grateful I am alive to meet you. I will cherish every second of it. I will breathe consciously, learn hungrily, discern deeply, love passionately, win with humility and lose “without losing hope”, celebrate gracefully, pray with gratitude for all experiences.
In 2022, I promise you healthy and intentional living filled with good energy and deep appreciation. I SERVE HIM. He never fails. I know my purpose. I will do my part and he will do the rest. A Date with Destiny Awaits! Let’s go.
