I have been hearing and seeing stories about the guy who took investors’ funds and splurged on a big brother Africa vixen and another such type.
Sad this is, cos I hear that he has been docked for fraud to the tune of N1.2b and was refused bail.
I have met him twice. He is not a friend but could have been a friend. I had gone to market him for investments on behalf of a client and the ask was just N200m.
We had shown him cause for the investment and had offered collateral more than 100% of his exposure. But somehow he just waddled and didn’t bite.
Well, today we have found out that he had spent so much on the free girls that dot the entertainment industry for his own purposes.
I want to look very carefully at our huge industry viz a viz this case.
The industry has been built on ‘ pussy’ permit my French. What we are seeing is a huge growth on the back of underground dealings between female players and people like this investment banker type.
So the averagely talented vixen wanting to go into the production suite pushes through production by getting funding from these types and splurges on content- could be a movie, talk show, theatre anything.
What they fail to do is create a market. So you see empty cinemas and empty halls but the next thing is big cars, divinely sinful trips to Dubai and other such exotic destinations, and a lifestyle that would make a Hollywood Star green with envy.
The market is forgotten. It is not created and exploited. They drop this content and move on cos there is no need for profits. The profits have been shared in beds all over lekki and Dubai.
The industry suffers because what you now get are half-baked producers who have nothing but inflated bums to sell.
If not for people like my sister Bolanle Austen Peters and a few others who understand the industry end to end we would have nothing in the space but Sodom and Gomorrah
Bolanle and a few deliver masterpieces thru hard talent, raw determination, and grit in a bid to deepen a market that hungers for quality.
What we have today is an industry built on sex. Not even the right quality of sex but the gonorrhea-infested variant which had left to a huge count case and a return of all the spoils of war including cars and houses and the rest.
This could unravel the industry cos from my estimation about 65% of movies being churned out today are from these sexual sources and this is sad.
Cos millions of livelihoods are dependent on the industry on all sides- practitioners, allied sub-industries, and the markets.
To now situate it on the weak stilts of sex is dangerous, to say the least.
The money men who would rather spend on these empty heads but with beautiful bodies rather than take a cursory business look at the industry for meaningful investments are really the hemlock of the entertainment industry
An industry that has so much promise and depth. An industry that if well harmonized and exploited can just lead this country out of its doldrums.
As I watch my brother standing in the dock pleading not guilty to a 1.2b fraud case, I remember how hard it took for me to convince him of a solid investment opportunity, and then now imagine just how easy it would have taken the big brother housemate to get millions out of him by simply fondling his member.
Sad.
