When a few weeks ago I forcefully asked for the resignation of Mr. Onyeama, it wasn’t cos of anything personal but the need to immediately foster very strong corporate governance on the dealings at the exchange as we begin the long and tortuous journey of reclaiming the country.
What we face today is an economic crisis precipitating the political crisis as the struggle for control of limited resources continues to oil conflict in our country.
The Nigerian Capital Market has a major role to play in this renaissance hence the need to strengthen its processes and structures.
Mr. Onyeama’s resignation this morning is a good start and the system should leverage on this to build a viable institution pulling the place out of its present state.
Congratulations Mr Onyeama for this bold step. You can be rest assured that we will continue to support you in your role as GMD/CEO at the group level.
Well done.
